First and foremost, what exactly is a link? What is a good link, what is a bad link, and, most importantly, how do you build them on your website?
In the SEO industry, we deal with three types of links internal links. external links, and backlinks.
What are Internal Links?
Internal links are used when you link one page on your website to another page on your website while staying within the same domain. Internal links are hyperlinks that point to pages on the same domain. Internal links are not nearly as effective as links from other websites. They do, however, assist. That is why knowledgeable SEOs strategically link to important pages. We recommend performing an internal link audit 1-to 2 times a year. Low-priority pages may receive a disproportionate amount of internal link love.
What are External Links?
In a simple world, external links are links given to third parties websites from our own website or blog. External Links are hyperlinks that point to (target) any domain other than the one on which the link is located (source). In layman’s terms, an external link to your site is when another website links to you. Similarly, if you link to another website, this is regarded as an external link.
What are Backlinks?
Backlinks can be defined as links which are given by other websites to your website, webpage, photos, or to the home page. Manual outreach, natural-editorial, self-created, and citation and directory links are all options. Natural-editorial backlinks are the most important type of backlink that we seek. Manual outreach links are the next backlink on the list that we strive for. These links are created when we discover resources on the internet that could benefit from an upgrade from the information on our websites’ content. Backlinks are the most important part of link building strategy and are mostly worked by SEOs. Few companies also outsource SEO services in order to bring backlinks from outsourcing partners.
In the world of SEO, backlinks are a major part of SEO strategy. They’re one of the most important factors in determining a website’s ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs). But what are backlinks, and why are they so important?
Backlinks are simply links from other websites to your own. Google looks at the number and quality of backlinks to a website as a sign of that website’s authority and relevance. The more high-quality backlinks you have, the higher your site will rank in SERPs.
There are a variety of ways to build backlinks to your site, but the most effective is by creating high-quality content that others will want to link to. You can also promote your content on social media and other websites, and participate in online discussions and forums related to your niche.
The question left is whether to outsource SEO work or hire a staff to do it in-house. Both options will be discussed in the next chapter.
